Sandboarding Cerro Negro

Cerro Negro is the youngest volcano in Nicaragua and one of the smallest ones with 650 meters. This volcano is completely covered with volcanic rocks one on side and black sand on the other, which allows enjoying a unique, adrenaline-filled adventure: Volcano Sandboarding.
Sandboarding Cerro Negro Volcano from Managua
We will pick you up in the early morning from your hotel in Managua to take you to Cerro Negro volcano.
The hike from the base of the volcano to the summit is challenging despite its low altitude and takes about 01 hour. Each person will take their board for the moment of descent. The volcanic stone path is steep, but the view at the top will be a nice reward. You will be able to observe much of Los Maribios volcanic chain and the Cerro Negro crater.
The specialized tour guide will give you some indications and a small demonstration of how to handle the boards. Going down the sandy slope is truly an adventure. After this amazing experience, we will return to Managua.

Travel tips for Sandboarding
- Be sure to bring enough water and sunscreen.
- Wear a pair of pants and solid hiking shoes or boots to provide protection against the sharp volcanic rocks.
